Ciarán McGowan is your guide to this summer’s All Ireland Championships. This week we get predictions from 'lads'!

There are two lads I work with (both of whom shall remain nameless for legal reasons) that enjoy a little sports gamble at weekends.  Together, three of us have created a small fund following some shrewd investments in this year’s GAA matches.

For purposes of this blog, I shall refer to my fellow investors as ‘careful lad’ and ‘dicey lad’ (I like to think of myself as equilibrium that knits us together). Last weekend’s matches and results suited careful lad’s philosophy and yesterday he gloatingly reminded us that our winnings (meagre as they were) were largely based on his ‘careful’ approach to our weekend’s speculations. Needless to say, ‘Dicey’ is spitting fire and determined to have a dominant say over this weekend’s selections. However, this weekend’s games would appear to be one sided affairs.

While calming Dicey down, I suggested we take at a longer term view on basis that we could get more value; Dicey loves value. After talking him out of backing Leitrim to win Connaught, we decided to go for a double on Football and Hurling outright winners.

I was looking at Tipperary (Hurling) and Dublin (Football) which is about a 12/1 double. But Dicey wants more value – so please, please, please send me your forecasts and predictions for this year’s all Ireland Hurling and Football outright winners. Write to: ciaran@irelandofthewelcomes.com
